Dear Friends & Family - Now that the Valley is golden and the fall rains have brought the freshness and green back to our world, it is time to reflect on the incredibly difficult 2011 vintage. The yields were off as much as 60% around the Valley, and ripeness levels were all over the board at harvest. Oakville East did not escape the yield problems, but were very fortune to have received beautiful ripe grapes into the winery. It is vintages like this where Our Red Rocks on the west facing hillside allow our grapes to get that extra heat and sun light necessary to achieve fully ripe grapes. We look forward to excellent wines from the 2011 vintage, but, alas, there will not be very many bottles available. On the cheerier side, we don’t have to worry about it until the fall of 2014. |

Avis, Harry, Darling and I want you to know how much we appreciate your enthusiasm for our Oakville East Exposure and Core Stone wines. We have sold out of our 2008 wines, and have just released the 2009’s. Of course as the proud papa, I will say that these are the best yet. Both wines have just begun to express themselves by exhibiting their beautiful bright fruit aromas that carry into the middle pallet when tasting, and finish by expressing our traditional soft elegant tannic structure. This truly is Oakville East in a bottle. |
