In 2005 when we first planted the Calluna vineyard, we designated a miniscule 1-acre block of merlot in honor of Alain Raynaud and his family of Saint-Emilion, with whom winemaker David Jeffrey apprenticed in 2003. It is Doctor Raynaud and that beautiful region of Bordeaux which inspire this classic Right Bank wine that expresses the precision of the grape variety with both a smooth, silky texture and a bright, lifting finish. A brilliant garnet color stains the glass and expressive aromatics of plum, black cherry and Asian spice fills the nose. On the palate, it has Merlot plushness but with very bright, lifting acidity and velvety tannins that linger with flavors of kirsch, vanilla, sandalwood and black tealeaf. Drink now or hold for 6-8+ years.   Complimentary shipping is provided on orders with 12 or more bottles to a single address within the continental US.
