"I've been very pleasantly surprised by Washington state's success in growing Sangiovese. Since I've been allocated the '93 planting at Boushey, I have increased the Sangiovese in the Saggi composition to emphasize it's vibrant and elegant side while still working with the structure of the Cabernet Sauvignon and the darkness of the Syrah."

"Bright, deep red. Sexy aromas of black cherry, violet, licorice and toasty oak. Juicy, vibrant and quite tight, with a restrained sweetness to the blackberry and licorice flavors. Finishes broad but with a light touch, with suave, tongue-dusted tannins and sneaky persistence."

Dear %%FIRST%%,
To coincide with the excitement of another harvest underway, we are pleased to offer our Private Cellar members exclusive first access to the 2009 Saggi. This outstanding Sangiovese-based red blend from Italy's famous father-son winemaking team, Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari, is a wonderful expression of the Columbia Valley. Rich yet sleek, the 2009 Saggi delivers vibrant aromas and flavors of ripe wild strawberries, black currants and violets accented by notes of earth and spice. This wine is well-balanced, with delicious, mouth-filling acidity and a fine coating of dusty tannins that provide an expressive finish.
Through October 12th, we are offering Private Cellar members complimentary shipping on all orders of 6 or more bottles of 2009 Saggi.

About Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari
The Folonaris are among Italy's oldest and most prestigious Tuscan wine families with a winemaking history dating back to the late 1700s. Ambrogio Folonari has been an outspoken advocate for Italian wine quality, crafting iconic wines including Cabreo - the original "Super Tuscan." Today, Ambrogio works with his son Giovanni to produce primarily Tuscan "grand crus" with an emphasis on terroir from their collection of beautifully located vineyards. Their focus on small-lot, estate-grown wines made them the perfect choice to craft the Long Shadows Sangiovese-based red blend, Saggi.
We are delighted with the 2009 Saggi and pleased to be sharing this new release with you, our valued Private Cellar Members.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Cheers,
