2010 Orogeny Chardonnay
2011 Orogeny Chardonnay
Creamy, complex nuances from barrel fermentation with native yeast complement the opulent fruit character of our Chardonnay. The aromas and flavors brim with ripe d’Anjou pear, golden apple, Meyer lemon, honey and pineapple-guava notes from old Chardonnay vines. The wine’s crisp, balanced acidity and richly textured palate create the perfect framework for the lush fruit flavors. Crème brûlée and spice nuances from malolactic fermentation and French oak barrels lace the aromas and flavors and then gently linger on the harmonious finish. This Chardonnay’s impeccable balance of crisp acidity makes it an elegant accompaniment to rich seafood dishes and triple crème Brie.

2008 Orogeny Pinot Noir
2008 Orogeny Pinot Noir
Rocky, mountain soils and marine winds give the 2008 Orogeny Redding Ranch Pinot Noir its intense, complex aromas and flavors. Queen Anne cherry and red raspberry notes highlight the bright, fruity aromas, while on the palate, darker fruit flavors of wild blackberry and huckleberry emerge. Complex nuances of bergamot and sassafras mingle with clove and vanilla from well-integrated new oak. The high flavor intensity, broader tannins and persistent finish of this wine complement full-flavored entrées, including rack of lamb and wild mushroom risotto.

Winemaker Matthew Glynn began making Orogeny wines at Acacia Vineyard in 2008. Acacia is proud to share with Orogeny an outstanding winemaking team, artisan cellar, and online shop where guests enjoy access to both of these award winning wine labels.

The geological term orogeny comes from Greek oro, mountain, and -geny, birth. Orogeny is the process during which the collisions and separations of the earth's crust form mountains. The last orogenic episode in Sonoma County created the Russian River Valley, the unique source for our Russian River Chardonnay grapes; and a series of orogenic episodes near the Pacific Ocean formed the steep ridge in Marin County where our Redding Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir grapes are grown.
