WHAT WE DO
Elden Selections is much more than just a place to buy Burgundy wine. You can buy Burgundy anywhere. But it’s nearly always that same Burgundy. Wines that have been rated and created by the industry and priced accordingly. And what’s worse, despite those prices, a lot of these wines will break your heart with mediocrity. Burgundy is a minefield, and many a wine lover has been scared away.
Elden Selections is different. We specialize in small-production estate-bottled Burgundy wines, many that are not otherwise available in the US. We live in Burgundy. Have done for 30 years. We know these winemakers and their families. First and foremost they are farmers, and they know that there is no good wine without good grapes.
Elden Selections takes you inside Burgundy. We are your feet on the ground, your finger in the pie, your tasting room in Burgundy, working closely with the winemakers themselves to bring you the best wine in every vintage.

GET TO KNOW US
We believe that the only way you will ever know if you like a wine is to taste it. So here is a way to get to know Elden Selections. We are proposing a 12 bottle mixed case that we think fairly well represents our Burgundy palate. Wines that become Elden Selections have been chosen because we like them. These are some of our favorites. And they are priced so that you can open them just to see if you like them too. We’ll send you wines worth at least $360... for $250. And we’ll throw in the shipping too.
If you like these Elden Selections, we guarantee that you will like any wine that you ever receive from us. Promise.
WHAT TO DRINK NOW
My recommendations for wines drinking now would be the older vintages of course. We have several older vintages that are drinking very well right now. And don’t forget the 2009 reds and the 2010 whites. Here’s a quick overview of wines we have tasted recently that are ready to drink.
The Domaine Potinet-Ampeau whites in 2007 are drinking beautifully. As for the reds, I particularly like the 2009 Monthelie 1er Cru ‘Champs Fulliots’. The 2005s are drinking well too, but maybe deserve a bit more cellar time.
The 2005 Richoux Irancy single vineyard ‘Veaupessiot’ is ripe and rich. We had a bottle just the other night. Both of William Nahan’s Chablis 1er Cru are worth your attention too.
The simpler 09s in red and the 10s in white are tempting. The Domaine Borgeot Rully ‘La Chaponniere’ 10 is really nice now. As is the Chassagne-Montrachet ‘Vieilles Vignes. Their Santenay reds are always a pleasure. We have been drinking the Santenay Vieilles Vignes 09 practically as our house red these past few months. And the Santenay 1er Cru ‘Gravieres’ was great right from the moment it was bottled.
And as always, the Capitain-Gagnerot wines are really classy. The Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru ‘La Coutiere’…this is the only Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru in white! The Capitain reds are benchmark pinot noir. The Ladoix 1er Cru ‘La Micaude’ and the Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru ‘Moutottes’ are among our favorite wines, period.
I would call your attention to the Paul-Henri Thillardon Chenas 2011 Beaujolais Cru. This guy will be famous...it’s happening now. Amazing touch. We call it ‘grown-up’ wine!
