WHAT TO DRINK AT THANKSGIVING | SPECIAL OFFERS
Be sure to order before quantities are gone and by November 15 to ensure delivery.

Here in Burgundy, we live in a wine culture that runs deep. For the people that make them, wines are like bottled memory. And they keep them for special occasions. There are few occasions as special as Thanksgiving, when friends and family gather around a table to share and to celebrate another passing year.

Somehow drinking Burgundy makes Thanksgiving even more special. Burgundy wines are among the most food-friendly on the planet. And these mixed twelve-bottle cases and 4-bottle sets of small-production estate-bottled wines have been selected by us to match the mood and the season.

We took a lot of care in selecting these wines for your Thanksgiving table. Each and every one of them comes from that Burgundy wine culture. These are wines that we, too, have in our cellar for times like this.

FEATURED NEW PRODUCER: MARCHAND-TAWSE
The story of the Maison Marchand-Tawse in Burgundy begins with the extraordinary story of Pascal Marchand, the French Canadian boy wonder, who in 1985 at 22 years old, took the reins of the Clos des Epeneaux in Pommard, became an overnight sensation, and in the process pretty much defined modern Burgundy.

In the following years, as the Clos des Epeneaux moved from relative obscurity to international prominence, Pascal became part of the inner sanctum of a new generation of Burgundy producers who took wine production back into the vines. They shared ideas, were willing to experiment, became keen observers of Nature. Without good grapes there is no good wine. But good grapes come from healthy vineyards. So many of them turned to organic production. Pascal first and foremost.

Pascal was approached by Jean-Charles Boisset and with the 1999 vintage, the Domaine de la Vougeraie was launched, giving Pascal management of over 90 acres of Burgundy vineyards, from simple regional appellations through to Grand Crus. And it soon became a reference for modern Burgundy production. Pascal took to organic farming with a biodynamic approach, It was revolutionary. And at the same time, he became one of the best known and busiest 'flying winemakers‘.

Those days are over. Pascal's biography on the Marchand-Tawse website says that 'a strong need for emancipation' was the reason he left the Boisset group in 2006.

The collaboration of Pascal with another French Canadian, Moray Tawse of the Tawse Winery in Niagara, one of Canada's most recognized wineries, gave birth to the new Maison Marchand-Tawse in 2011. We’re thrilled to be able to bring you their wines. For early drinking try the Chambolle-Musigny 09. The others deserve time in the cellar. We hope you enjoy our selection of Maison Marchand-Tawse wines.

FROM OUR BLOG: THOSE ‘LESSER’ APPELLATIONS
How do famous winemakers become famous? They make famous wine, of course. This is not to say that everyone who makes Chambertin is a great winemaker – far from it – but these days…if you make good wine in a famous appellation, the world will come...

But what about all of those other Burgundy appellations? The not-so-famous ones? Like Santenay, for example, or Monthelie, or Givry, to name but a few? It stands to reason that there must be great winemakers working there as well. But who are they? And why aren’t they famous, too. This is a question which cuts straight to the heart of our ‘raison d’etre’ here at Elden Selections, so let’s take a closer look at these ‘lesser’ known appellations.
