FEATURED NEW PRODUCER: MARCHAND-TAWSE
In the following years, as the Clos des Epeneaux moved from relative obscurity to international prominence, Pascal became part of the inner sanctum of a new generation of Burgundy producers who took wine production back into the vines. They shared ideas, were willing to experiment, became keen observers of Nature. Without good grapes there is no good wine. But good grapes come from healthy vineyards. So many of them turned to organic production. Pascal first and foremost. Pascal was approached by Jean-Charles Boisset and with the 1999 vintage, the Domaine de la Vougeraie was launched, giving Pascal management of over 90 acres of Burgundy vineyards, from simple regional appellations through to Grand Crus. And it soon became a reference for modern Burgundy production. Pascal took to organic farming with a biodynamic approach, It was revolutionary. And at the same time, he became one of the best known and busiest 'flying winemakers‘. Those days are over. Pascal's biography on the Marchand-Tawse website says that 'a strong need for emancipation' was the reason he left the Boisset group in 2006. The collaboration of Pascal with another French Canadian, Moray Tawse of the Tawse Winery in Niagara, one of Canada's most recognized wineries, gave birth to the new Maison Marchand-Tawse in 2011. We’re thrilled to be able to bring you their wines. For early drinking try the Chambolle-Musigny 09. The others deserve time in the cellar. We hope you enjoy our selection of Maison Marchand-Tawse wines. |

It stands to reason that there must be great winemakers working there as well. But who are they? And why aren’t they famous, too. This is a question which cuts straight to the heart of our ‘raison d’etre’ here at Elden Selections, so let’s take a closer look at these ‘lesser’ known appellations. Read more >> |
