L'Ecole #41
New Year Greetings
Our year-long 30th Anniversary Celebration has come to a close and we are stepping into the promise of the New Year. As we reflect upon the hard work, accomplishments and opportunities of the past year, we would like to say THANK YOU for your wonderful support of our wines. We recognize it is the support of you, our loyal customers, that provides us the opportunity each year to craft the very best wines possible. 2013 was truly a tremendous year at L’Ecole and we are even more excited for what lies ahead in 2014.

A Reflection On 2013…

Praise
We were honored by the phenomenal accolades bestowed upon the winery, including our 12th consecutive year as a Wine & Spirits "Winery of the Year," great scores from the wine media with every single wine submitted for review receiving 90 points or higher in one or more publications, and the appearance of our wines on five different “Top 100 Wines of the Year” lists: Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast's Cellar Selections, Wine Enthusiast’s Best Buys, The Seattle Times, and Great Northwest Wine.

Harvest
Harvest commenced September 5th with Merlot picked at both our Estate Seven Hills Vineyard and Candy Mountain Vineyard. After some unusually wild weather in early September, we settled into our more typical fall Indian Summer and enjoyed an absolutely glorious October in the Walla Walla Valley. Cooler temperatures allowed for much desired longer hang time in the later ripening varietals. Our last blocks of grapes (Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon) were harvested October 15th. As we taste individual blocks from barrel in preparation for spring blending trials, we are excited by the great quality we are seeing. Stay tuned!

Looking ahead…

2011 Estate Ferguson - We could not be more excited to begin sharing this wine - first at March Wine Club events in the Pacific NW and in the tasting room in early April. In addition we are planning a special winemaker dinner at the winery during Spring Release Weekend May 2, 2014 to celebrate this new pinnacle in our portfolio.

Small-lot Single Vineyard Wines - We have crafted a handful of exceptional, small-lot, single vineyard wines (2013 Klipsun Vineyard Semillon/Sauvignon Blanc, 2011 Estate Cabernet Franc, 2012 Estate Malbec, 2012 Grenache • Stone Tree Vineyard, and other gems) that we are eager to share with you. Only a few hundred cases of each wine were made and they will be available exclusively from the winery. We will be sure to let you know as soon as they are released.

Thank you again. We hope to hear you ringing the Schoolhouse bell on your next visit to the winery soon!

Cheers!
Marty & the entire L'Ecole family
