Dear %%FIRST%%,
This is a friendly reminder that the 2013 Poet's Leap Riesling is now available for purchase. Crafted by Armin Diel, proprietor of the renowned Schlossgut Diel, the 2013 Poet's Leap offers vibrant aromas and flavors of white peach, jasmine, ripe melon and apricot. An appealing minerality and hint of honey add a layer of creaminess that is balanced by a streak of bright acidity on the finish.
Please note, discounts are now available for Key Club members only. We encourage you to visit our Key Club sign-up page for information on additional benefits of our wine club, including member-exclusive wines, special events and complimentary tastings.
Poet's Leap Riesling is crafted by Armin Diel, one of Germany's most highly acclaimed Riesling producers. It seems Diel was born to be a winemaker - his family has owned the Schlossgut Diel estate, internationally renowned for its white wines and especially Rieslings, since 1802. The Schlossgut Diel vineyards have been classified with the highest possible ranking since 1901, giving them status comparable to a Burgundy Grand Cru. Armin is also one of Germany's leading wine writers (though he never comments on his own wines).

The 2013 Poet's Leap Riesling brings together a distinct collection of Columbia Valley vineyards: Long Shadows' Sonnet Vineyard at The Benches in Horse Heaven Hills adds minerality and stone fruit, Yakima Valley's Phil Church Vineyard contributes bright, lively acidity and Tri-Cities' Sagemoor Vineyards adds grapes from old vineyards, including old vines at Dionysus Vineyard planted in 1972, for additional complexity.
As always, thank you for your continued support of the Long Shadows wines.
Cheers,

"Regardless if we have a warmer or cooler vintage, Riesling proves to be king in Germany and other regions that have cooler nights. Washington has warm days yet cool nights during the growing season which allows us to capture vibrant and lively characteristics that make Poet's Leap so complete and racy."

2012 Poet’s Leap Review
(2013 not yet reviewed)
“Marvelous concentration and a panoply of lush orange, apricot, peach and papaya flavors carry this beautifully balanced wine through a long and satisfying finish. Delicious young, it could also be cellared for a decade or longer.”
