Rosenblum Cellars - Shareholder Wine Club July 2012 Wine Notes

2008 Ranchita Canyon Zinfandel
Expressive of its Paso Robles origins, our Ranchita Canyon Zinfandel opens with a punch of dark fruit, molasses and cocoa that carries through from the first whiff to the last sip. Ripe plum flavors are complemented by a distinct chalky limestone and spice notes indicative of this region. The addition of Petite Sirah lends depth and body, giving the wine big, grippy complexity and fragrant aromas. A wine with broad shoulders and

2009 Snows Lake Zinfandel
This wine has a heritage and pedigree second to none in the Zinfandel world. Our only question was would the terrior of high mountain Lake County carry it forward? Well the answer is a resounding “Yes!” The wine exhibits wild black cherries and violets in the bouquet which reflects its red soil and mountain roots. And dark smoky blackberries with hints of Asian spice in the flavors. It’s the perfect wine to enjoy by the lake while a steak sizzles on the grill.

2009 Rockpile Road Reserve Petite Sirah
A labor-intensive, small-batch fermentation in macro bins with a hand punch-down technique was used to produce this extracted Petite Sirah. The fruit was cold-soaked for three days prior to fermentation which lasted 14 days. Pressed and racked to barrels, the wine spent approximately 18 months in primarily French oak; for added character, barrels from six different coopers were incorporated to enhance the depth and subtle nuances of the finished wine.

2009 Fess Parker Roussanne
Wines made from this varietal are known for their high aromatics and our Fess Parker Vineyard Roussanne is no exception. Enticing aromas of stone fruit, including the subtle skin and pit, lay the foundation, joined by sweet marzipan and brown spices that reveal barrel influence. The palate is juicy with ripe apricots, peaches and dried fruits. The finish carries a chalky minerality indicative of its cool-climate origin. Enjoy this unique wine with foods that have a nice brightness and balance of flavors, such as a spring pasta or seafood stew.
