Vineyard/Harvest Update
Vintage ’13 Update with Associate Winemaker Alison Crary!
We are seeing widespread veraison in many varietals right now, so it won’t be too much longer. We expect to begin harvesting Sauvignon Blanc in late August, followed by red varietals in early to mid-September. The quality indicators for the harvest are good – but a lot will depend on our weather in the next 6 to 8 weeks. Until then, we are concentrating on bottling our 2011 wines and aging our 2012 wines before we welcome the new 2013 vintage. Make sure to stop by the winery soon to get an up-close look at the harvest process!

Our 2012 Pinot Gris Shines in the St. Helena Star!
The exclusive Cellar Club 2012 Pinot Gris was awarded Wine of the Week by our very own St. Helena Star! Author Catherine Seda had this to say in praise of the wine and this often overlooked varietal:
While pinot gris (the same grape as pinot grigio) surpassed sauvignon blanc as one of the top-selling white wines around the country, its plantings remain small in the valley. This wine ($26) shows what the grape has to offer and makes me wish there was a bit more than the roughly 240 acres planted here in the country.
Take a taste and you get pinot gris’ pear and peach fruit with the addition of faint white floral. It is rich and flavorful with medium acidity—a fun taste for summer.
