We are pleased to finally release our Pinot Noirs from the prized 2012 vintage. The 2012 vintage in the Willamette Valley has been called "epic" and "one of the best vintages in the history of the 50-year-old region."
The 2012 Evenstad Reserve has been ageing in our cellar for over a year and is wonderfully complex with silky tannins and great persistence. This wine is beautifully approachable now but will be drinking well for many, many years to come.
Our Winemaker, Erik Kramer, describes the conditions leading to these memorable wines in his own words:
"Weather patterns during flowering in 2012 resulted in reduced fruit set and low yields for Pinot Noir. Speaking as a winemaker, a growing season with low yields, dry conditions, with average to slightly above average temperatures during the ripening period, is very exciting as it can offer unique quality wines. In one of the driest growing seasons in recent history, we produced a vintage with great flavor intensity, richness and opulence."

Neal Martin from The Wine Advocate described the 2012 Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir as having "...a deep garnet color. The bouquet is in stark contrast with strawberry pastille and raspberry coulis... the palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red berry fruit interlaced with sea salt and white pepper. There is an undercurrent of gaminess to this 2012 that lends intrigue toward the finish that gently grips the mouth. ...very well crafted by winemaker Erik Kramer and with a prosperous future ahead."
