New Year Greetings

Happy New Year! The turn of the calendar brings the opportunity to reflect on the year just completed, as well as the one to come. There was much to be thankful for in 2015—a successful 33rd harvest, beautiful wines resting in barrel, working with our daughter Rebecca in daily operations of our family business, and being named a Wine & Spirits Top 100 Winery for the 14th consecutive year just to name a few!

As you might guess, there is tremendous interest surrounding the new release of Ferguson. We are excited to first share it at our February and March Pacific Northwest Wine Club events. It will be officially released at the winery April 1st. You may also reserve your bottles now for pick-up or shipment in the Spring by clicking the button below.

2012 Estate Ferguson Review
95 pts Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate
“My favorite in the lineup was the spectacular 2012 Ferguson Reserve, a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 6% Malbec in 2012, and comes all from basalt soils in the southern part of the appellation. ... this shows more and more structure with time in the glass, so short-term cellaring is advised. It’s another terrific wine from this team that will have 20–25 years of longevity.” —Jeb Dunnuck

Planting the original 18 acres of our 42-acre Estate Ferguson Vineyard site in 2008 was a bit of an experiment. Never before had we attempted planting vines in such shallow soil overlying fractured basalt. With the inaugural 2011 Ferguson being named “Best Bordeaux-Blend in the World” at Decanter World Wine Awards, this vineyard not only met, but exceeded our early expectations! After 10 years farming this site, we look forward to planting 12 additional acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, & Cabernet Franc vines this spring. As these new vines mature, Ferguson Vineyard, exclusive to L’Ecole, will play an even more prominent role in our wines. We look forward to sharing the progress with you in coming months!

We also wish to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU for your ongoing support of our wines. We recognize it is you, our loyal customers, who provide us the opportunity to continue crafting the very best wine possible each year. 2015 was a stellar year at L’Ecole, and we are just as excited for what lies ahead in 2016. We look forward to hearing you ring the Schoolhouse bell on your next visit!
Thank you again,
Marty & the entire L’Ecole family
